“My parents bought a time share four or five years ago at the Ellington at Wachesaw Plantation in S.C. They paid cash after reaching an agreement that there would be no maintenance fees, ever. They have a contract that lists maint. fees of zero. Three years ago while using the facility current management discovered they were not paying maint. fees. YORK — An earlier lawsuit against Colonial Crossings timeshare has come to light, with 25 owners asserting they too were fraudulently sold with the promise of a water park.

This lawsuit was filed in York-Poquoson Circuit Court in July by an attorney from Nellysford. The more recent suit has 465 timeshare owners.

Canadian Timeshare Scams & Default

Four companies and two people face criminal and provincial charges after consumers lost more than $1 million in the collapse of an Alberta operation offering time shares at two resorts in and near Canmore.

But the alleged fraud may be much larger, with many more people involved than the 678 complaints received, and “total losses, probably, in the $60 to $80 million range,” said Mike Berezowsky, spokesman for Service Alberta.
