Another highly recommended 5 Star or Gold Lief  timeshare resort in Minnesota. Ask for the timshare units located on the Causeway on Gull Website.. The 6 unit complex  does not have good sound proof qualities . Otherwise a outstanding resort.

Back in 2005, my wife and I were wondering what we should do for a 2006 Christmas get-together with our grown and married adult children and our grandchildren. Our children live in the Minneapolis and St. Paul area, about 200 miles south of where we live. We decided to try and exchange our II affiliated Village at Izaty’s timeshare into a dual affiliate II and RCI Causeway on Gull resort in Northern Minnesota. Both resorts are within 3 hours from our home and we had never before exchanged for a Christmas week. We went on-line and requested an exchange and paid the $139 exchange fee early in 2006. Low and behold, within a few weeks we were notified electronically that we were confirmed for Christmas 2006. WOW! Were we excited! We could now notify our kids that we had confirmed accommodations and we were looking forward to having Christmas together at a timeshare condo not far for each family to travel.

If you look at the opening page of Causeway on Gull’s website , we were expecting a very large 2 story windowed condo. What we did not know was these were RCI condos. This resort started out orginially as an RCI timeshare resort. Later on, Causeway on Gull became affiliated with the (II) or Interval International exchange group. The II exchange timeshare owners were put into a different set of timeshare condos that were part of a six -plex. We did not find this out until we arrived for check-in. “Oh well, let’s make the most of it.”

We don’t have any outside pictures of the 6 – plex II affiliated building currently, but will get some later and put the pictures up on this page. But we do have inside pictures. One of the first things we did, since it was the Christmas season and before the kids and the grandchildren arrived,  was to hang up Christmas decorations.

The 6 – plex we were staying in did not have the 2 story fireplace but this one worked just fine for hanging Christmas stockings. Well, the kids arrived and because they are computer connected most of the time we had to get our computers set up. This was partly to show  my Dad who could not believe that we couldn’t be together for a few days during the Christmas holidays without using our computers. Other than my wife and I, all our children have jobs requiring them to be connected on computers most of the time.

I can’t continue without showing pictures of the kids and the fun we had at Causeway on Gull for  Christmas 2006.

The excitement of kids at Christmas. First time using a timeshare for Christmas at a resort close to home.

The 6- plex unit is on a hill overlooking a very nice swimming pool which was probably only 200 ft. away.  Everybody had fun,  and even though it was cold outside, the pool building was nice and warm and large and well kept by the resort association.

Some family members didn’t go swimming but enjoyed taking care of a grandchild. My wife Elaine enjoyed every minute of it.

I love having fun at Christmas.

I don’t have a picture, but for Christmas dinner we had 26 people in this timeshare unit. The kids had fun playing in this rather large unit and it was the perfect Christmas get-together in 2006. These are the memories we shall cherish for years to come.
This 6 plex had an upstairs and a downstairs unit because it is built on the side of a hill. The one thing we noticed in this was the sounds from when someone checked into the lower unit below us. It was one of the worst insulated and sound proof units in which we have ever stayed. We could easily hear everything from the unit below – the noise of the little children running around their unit -  and I am sure they could hear the sounds of the children with us.

So, if you intend to stay at this resort, check first to find out if you will be staying in the double units you see on the Causeway on Gull front page, or ask  if you are going to stay in this 6- plex. We would not want to stay in the 6- plex again.
