Dec. 4th, 2011, Village At Izaty’s , Onamia, MN.
The annual Izaty’s timeshare owners association meeting was held on Dec th 2011. This was the 2nd time that we were able to attend in the last 10 years. The resort is only 3.5 hours from our Minnesota home and on a Sunday, making it convenient for owners to attend who were interested in the status of the resort and their own timeshare vacation units.
The meeting was held in the timeshare owners resort clubhouse. The meeting was well attended and very informative. The good news to everyone was that the association dues would not be increasing in the year 2012. We have to say that the board of directors , the resort manager and office staff are doing an excellent job of making sure that Izaty’s remains a 5 Star or Gold Leaf status within the Interval International exchange system.
The original owner of Izaty’s timeshare buildings and units is no longer a part of the timeshare units and resort. The timeshare owners who continue to use the resort and the Interval exchange system and are current on any loans are the owners of the facilities. From what we understand there are about 2,000 or more owners. My wife and I have owned our 2 bedroom duplex style unit on the golf course about 10 years. We have never stayed there. We have exchanged every year into other Interval International affiliated 5 Star resorts. Because the Izaty’s owners association and board take care of the facilities so well we have never had a problem exchanging to the best 5 star resorts in the USA.
Here is the bottom line from our opinion. Anyone who owns a timeshare at the Village At Izaty’s at Onamia, Minnesota need not worry about how their vacation property is being maintained. You can credit the 5 Star rating to the excellent board of directors who are as concerned about the maintenance and up keep of the Izaty’s timeshare units, buildings and properties.
There are some problems yet with unsold timeshare units that the board is dealing with. Those units would certainly bring in extra maintenance fees but the board is working on solutions that will make the association much stronger, but in the meantime they have indicated there will be on increase in maintenance fees in 2012. Great News!

Minnesota has two timeshare resorts that are worth mentioning. One is affiliated with the II or Interval International resort exchange system and the other is affiliated with the RCI and II Exchange system. Both resorts are located North of and within 125 miles of Minneapolis-St.Paul, and easy to get to.
The Village at Izaty’s timeshare resort is in the Interval International Exchange system. This is the resort where my wife and I own a deeded week. We own a two bedroom “C” unit that sleeps 6.
Village at Izaty’s C Units are Two Bedroom Town Homes – 1250 square feet. Plenty of room for timeshare owners who wish to vacation with friends and relatives. Here is the floor plan of a “C” unit. From the deck of each unit you will have a spectacular views of the renowned Dye Design golf course. If you love golfing and fishing this is definitely a 5 Star Resort that you should exchange into, particularly during the summer months. The problem particularly this year (2011) you may find it hard to exchange into this resort on short notice because of the economy. Minnesota timeshare owners who purchased at this resort may want to use their summer weeks. I would suggest requesting an exchange as far as a year in advance.
The Village at Izaty’s is located on the 2nd largest lake in the State of Minnesota. My wife and I are not avid fisherman but Mille Lacs is the place to be if you want to fish for Walleye. The lake is large but not very deep, maybe only 45 ft deep at most. This lake is almost round. We watch the weather constantly when sailing. There is no place to hide if you are out a distance from shore and a storm comes up suddenly. We have been caught in a few storms that were very severe . Over the years many fisherman have lost their lives on this lake because they were so far out from shore they couldn’t make it back . We spent most of our time sailing
on Mille Lacs rather than fishing. If you are a fisherman give Mille Lacs a try. The resort has a excellent marina and dock space with a huge club house with a eating and entertainment area. The timeshare units are within walking distance of the club house, the outdoor pool and volley ball courts. There is a small town within 5 miles east of the resort called Isle, Minnesota. There is a huge grocery store . Check it out. Another source of information can be found here Explore Minnesota.
