Missouri, Tree Top Village
Most definitely a 5 Star Resort. We would recommend this resort to anyone wishing to visit Missouri. Why? Because after staying one week we purchased a available week from one of the resorts current owners. Read the rest of this story. This 5 Star resort is in so much demand that Interval International offers us a “bonus” week every year if we would give it up so someone else can exchange into the resort.
We have to tell you that we are partial to this small timeshare resort affiliated with the Interval International exchange system in the Lake of the Ozarks area in Missouri.
This was over 10 years ago and the first time we had used the Interval International exchange system to trade for a two bedroom timeshare vacation home away from our two bedroom timeshare unit at The Village at Izatys in Minnesota.
It was a 800 mile trip by car from our Northern Minnesota home. We were excited. Pictures in the Interval International book do not always do justice to any resort. We thought Minnesota was beautiful but really liked what we saw as we traveled into Missouri. We did some Internet checking and saw that Tree Top Village was located on a huge lake. So we pulled our little 16′ sailboat hoping to get in some sailing.
We arrived at the resort just before check-in. The people working at the desk were great. Very helpful and courteous. To our surprise, we were registered into a two story circular timeshare unit
located on the side of a hill with a golf course behind our unit and a view overlooking the lake onthe front of the unit. From the outside we had to climb a number of steps to get to the top 2nd floor.
We could also have entered the circular unit from the downstairs and then climbed the interior circular steps to the kitchen area. It was better to take the luggage up the stairs outside to the walk-in kitchen and living room area. This floor also had a bedroom off of the living room and kitchen area. Since we had no visitors coming we decided to use the upstairs area most of the time.
After checking in we decided to take a walk around the resort. WoW! A indoor pool and a outdoor pool. Take a look at these pictures. Click here. The outdoor pool overlooked the lake. Walking around the resort we realized how out of physical shape we were. The resort is located on a hill with paved roads but there was a bit of up and down huffing and puffing to get around. It was worth it.
This unit had full length floor to ceiling windows all around the unit. It had floor to ceiling drapes for privacy, but what a view. Lake view from the kitchen and dining area and a golf course view from the living room view. We don’t golf but it was fun to watch the golfers from the living room.
This resort is located in a golf mecca. One of the first things you would want to do before exchanging into the Lake of the Ozarks area is to check out The Chamber of Commerce web site for events taking place during the time you wish to be there. Because this is such a popular resort during the summer months we suggest that you request an exchange through the Interval international web site as early as one year in advance.
This resort resort has a mixture of other types and style of timeshare units. If you wish to stay in a circular style unit like the one we stayed in check first to see if any are available.
See the utube video below. Some of the circular units are near the water and others are built on the hillside up further from the water but easily within walking distance on very nicely paved roads. You won’t lack for exercise walking around this beautiful resort.
To end this story, we liked the resort so much, we checked with the resort associations office (also the check-in office) that we asked if any timeshare owners had units for sale like the unit we stayed in. They had. We found a early summer week owner (week 21) who was willing to sell. We found out he had owned the unit like the one we stayed in for 20 years and now lived in Canada and no longer needed it. A long story short when we arrived back home we concluded the sale for $3,000. A prime summer week that would have cost , in todays market, $25,000 to $30,000. That’s another story! We will tell you how we purchased this deeded timeshare week on the re-sale market direct from the owner through the associations office.
By the way, there was so much to do in this area we didn’t get to go sailing. We took a cruise on a tour boatby walking to the area just below the outdoor pool.
The arrangements were made through the resort office. It was not only fun but the captain was very knowledgeable and entertaining. I don’t remember what we paid but it was reasonable and worth it.
