{A 90 minute presentation that turned into a 5 hour presentation. Be prepared if you take this Resorts tour here in Las Vegas 3-7-2011}
We had checked into the Cancun Resort at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, did the usual unpacking of our vehicle and organizing and getting acquainted in our two bedroom villa. We found out Monday morning that Cancun Resort did not have a shuttle to the strip, which was only 4 miles away, so we had to drive to the main strip area of hotels and casinos.
Here we go again! Our very first full day, a Monday in Las Vegas. After checking into Cancun Resort for our timeshare vacation we decided to take a visit to the strip. Almost immediately as we entered a casino, we were approached by representatives of The Grandview at Las Vegas timeshare resort. We were barely into the door of the Exclaibur Casino when they approached us. Since we were here for a timeshare vacation and timeshare business, we accepted the invitation to a 1.5 hour presentation for the very next day, a Tuesday. In exchange for spending 90 minutes of our time on Tuesday, we were promised Show tickets and a dinner to the “Tournament of Kings” dinner theater at the Excalibur Casino.
We arrived Tuesday morning at Excalibur Casino for our presentation. To our surprise we were taken by bus from the casino to the Grandview at Las Vegas about 5-6 miles South of the Excalibur Casino on the Las Vegas Boulevard. The tour bus was full of other prospective timeshare tourist or guests. This was going to be interesting.
We arrived at the Grandview at Las Vegas and were assigned to a female host as were the others individually. We were all taken to a theater room and given a oral and video presentation that lasted about one hour. We were then each taken by our individual representative to see the timeshare units. WOW! We were very impressed with the resort and the villas that we saw. After viewing the individual villas we were taken to another building up to a 2nd floor closing room. They treated us with a variety of sandwiches.
The closing presentation room was vast. I asked the representative how many sales people they had. She indicated around 200 salespeople. The entire presentation is based on RCI points. A two bedroom lockout unit was 80,000 points and the initial figure was $41,900. We declined the offer. After some time of presenting the advantages of the RCI point system we were turned over to another closing representative, and with modifications in the point system it came down to $18,000 for pretty much the same thing as the $41,900. We declined again.
From there we were brought down to a lower level of the building and another closer went through an “evaluation” of their treatment of us. At that point we were then offered another option to purchase virtually the same 80,000 points for $5,000 and payments of less than $100 per month. We again declined that final offer and were given our dinner and show tickets.
We had to wait again for the bus to fill up with the same people who came on the bus originally. So, this entire presentation took approximately 5 hours out of our day. We were a captive group of people and this resort presentation was the longest tour we had ever been on.
So, beware of long presentations where they take you by bus or van to another location. It is a very nice timeshare resort and a fine location. But it is again an RCI point system, which we personally don’t like. That’s our personal opinion.
