OK, we get it. We understand, as you get older, and your family has vacationed in timeshare units for 10-20 years and now you want to get rid of a timeshare property or properties you can no longer use and your kids don’t want to pay maintenance fee’s. What do you do? You now feel you were conned because your timeshare properties are worth nothing. Well, maybe it’s true. But if you bought a car that is now 10-20 yrs old and thousands of miles on it, do you expect to get much for that? We don’t and neither should you.
My wife and I just sold a 1994 Chry Town & Country with 173,000 miles on it. We only used it a couple of times a year in the last 5 years. It’s 20 years old. We got $1,200 for it and friends told us that it was more likely only worth about $900. We held out for the $1,200 we were asking and we finally got it, after 2-months on Craig’s list.
Well, did the orginial intent of purchasing a timeshare give you the vacations you dreamed of? Do you actually think that the IRS is going to go along with the idea of donating a timeshare to a charity and give you hugh tax deductions. Before you consider that option, do some research by clicking here: Timesharefun Tax Donations.
We purchased our 3 timeshare vacation properties on the resale market. One was given to us for $1.00 consideration, one high demand week in the Ozarks was purchased for $3,000 and another high demand week we purchased for only $400. All three timeshare weeks are deeded, no points. We purchased these weeks from timeshare owners who had used them for 10 – 20 years and just wanted to get rid of them. These 3 deeded timeshare weeks were initially purchased by the owners for a total of $33,600. We only invested $3,401.
Do your research folks! The IRS will not give you much in charitable deductions. In fact if you donate and try to deduct a high charity amount, you may get audited. Check out timeshare resales here: Tug2.net
